1. Providing strategic leadership
Consider the organisation as a whole and its beneficiaries, whether as a member of the Board or any of its committees, sub-committees, groups etc.
Reflect the organisation’s vision and principles, strategy and major policies at all times.
Contribute specific skills, interests and contacts and support the organisation in fundraising activities.
2. Ensuring policies and practices are in keeping with aims
Always follow the Code of Conduct, particularly when exercising the functions of the Board members, or any of its committees, sub-committees, groups.
Attend meetings of the Board members.
Reflect the Board members’ policies and concerns on all its committees, sub-committees, groups.
3. Ensuring best practice
Be an active member of the Board in exercising its responsibilities and functions.
Maintain constructive relationships with senior managerial staff.
Take part in training and development sessions provided for the benefit of the Board members.

ROLE DESCRIPTION
Café Dewi is the perfect place to stop off for a frothy cappuccino and light refreshments. Situated at the Hospice on Abbey Road, off Llandudno’s West Shore, the café is a popular meeting point for locals and tourists.
As a volunteer Café Dewi Assistant, you will contribute to the Hospice team by volunteering to carry out all duties relating to the smooth running of Café Dewi.

The Hospice fundraising department depends on the generosity of those who give in order to keep the Hospice doors open for patients locally. Collecting cans which are placed in the community, raise in excess of £20,000.There are in the region of 500 collecting cans placed in shops, retail outlets, cafes and pubs across Conwy, Gwynedd and Anglesey.

The collecting can roles are regular and predetermined so a collecting round sheet will be provided and the regularity of collections mutually agreed prior to starting the role.

Based at St David’s Hospice Llandudno or Bangor but travelling to various geographical locations or a mutually agreed geographical location.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
St David’s Hospice provides specialist palliative care to adults in North West Wales with life-limiting illnesses, including support to their family and carers. Your role would be to help the clinical team offer support to patients and their loved ones.

Duke of Edinburgh (DoE)
Gaining your DoE Award whilst volunteering at St David’s Hospice is a fantastic opportunity to develop key skills whilst making a meaningful contribution to your local community. Under-16 volunteers assist in our retail shops with tasks like tidying stock, serving customers and creating attractive displays, all under supervision. It’s a rewarding way to complete your volunteering section, build confidence and gain insights into hospice care. Some activities may also form part of your physical section such as training for one of our events. Get active as a way to support the Hospice and complete your award.
Work Experience
Work experience at St David’s Hospice offers under-16s a unique glimpse into compassionate care and retail operations in a supportive environment. You’ll shadow our teams in shops or other areas, helping with customer service, merchandising and light admin tasks tailored to your age.
